CUA40113 Certificate IV in Dance

The Certificate IV in Dance runs in three school terms of training with every term having an intensive period of interstate trainers and assessments. The last term is dedicated to a professional showcase of the student's work attracting agents and training institutions from all around Australia. APAN strives to be the state's most diverse training facility in current dance trends with a commercial focus.

This course includes a strong, all round training with a variety of local, interstate and international trainers. Students will have the opportunity to train in current commercial trends and experience a wide field of performance and practical opportunities.

Dance Majors will have a strong all round focus paying particular attention to all styles of dancing.

Jazz , Classical Ballet, Musical Theatre, Contemporary and Lyrical, Dance Performance, Hip-hop, Tap, Choreography, Career, Nutrition and Conditioning, Acting and Singing Ensemble, Audition Technique, Partnering and Solo Repertoire


Admission Requirements


Candidate to prepare one solo piece that meets the following criteria:


  • Any genre is acceptable

  • Not to exceed 2 minutes in duration

  • (Not to exceed 3 minutes, Backing track to be instrumental only (no backing vocals) supplied on a device with AUX cord connection capabilities)

  • Interview

  • Possible Group Singing Call 

  • Minimum Year 10 at course commencement. 

Note: You are not expected to be an expert in all genres. This audition is to assess your ability to adapt, to listen, to commit and attempt various disciplines in Performing Arts. It is desired that the candidate shows a talent and ability in at least two genres. The audition panel will be looking for talent, potential and passion. Pieces will be assessed on both technique and performance. Questions regarding training and experience will be asked in the audition. Call backs will be conducted for candidates in a streaming purpose to assess abilities in all areas and their fit for the course.
