Embarking on Full Time or Part Time Training is a big investment. It's about your future training and career. Its more than a piece of paper- it's your first step into becoming all that you can be- so you should be asking questions. We have made a list of answers that makes choosing us as your performing arts provider even easier.
WHY CHOOSE APAN ACADEMY? THERE ARE SO MANY OPTIONS AVAILABLE?
Apan have a variety of courses and study options that will fit your career aspirations and lifestyle. We have developed an industry driven program written by APAN Academy with an Advanced Diploma in Performing Arts. This has a major of musical theatre or Commercial Dance (The only one in the country). With so many relevant qualifications that address industry needs and demands you can develop your skill set ready to take on the industry.
WHO OWNS THE COURSE/ WHO RUNS THE COURSE?
APAN Academy is owned and run by Raquel Muia. Well known in the Performing Arts business throughout her dynamic careers in the industry. APAN Academy prides itself on a family supportive atmosphere where staff members care about the students' experience because their success is our success.
ARE THERE ANY THEORY CLASSES?
Yes. Each Class does have theory components throughout your training. At APAN Academy we have a Theory Website with a calendar and a clear unit and assessment brief to encourage students independence in their learning journey and links to the knowledge they need to complete their theory. This includes theory surrounding topics of their major plus Anatomy and Healthy Living, Safe Dance Practice, Movement Study, History and Reflective work to documents their goals and progress.
DOES THE COURSES INCLUDE AUDITION CLASSES?
We emphasise the importance of Audition technique in all of our Full Time Classes. We have simulation audition classes, hold auditions for productions plus audition rounds with local and interstate agencies.
DOES THE COURSES INCLUDE PERFORMANCES?
At APAN Academy we include Screen, Stage and Corporate Performances.
DOES THE COURSES INCLUDE COMPETITIONS?
At APAN Academy we do not do TROUPE Eisteddfods. We do encourage our Full Timers to enter the ENTER THE STAGE dance challenge to gain feedback from three industry professionals on a solo level. We also use this as a teaching tool for assessment purposes.
DOES THE COURSES INCLUDE GUEST TEACHERS?

AM I ALLOWED TO TAKE HOLIDAYS DURING STUDY?
At APAN Academy we expect dedicated and passionate individuals driven to succeed in the world of Performing Arts. We have a Full time schedule and require commitment. We give students one half day during the week for medical appointments, physical maintaining appointments and personal errands. It is expected that appointments are made during this time period. Other leave may be granted if requests are made in advance. Excessive absence is not tolerated and may result in not meeting the course criteria. Extended leave is considered in a need by need basis.
CAN I WORK WHILST I STUDY AT APAN?
Many students have part time jobs whilst studying at APAN Academy. As long as your job does not interfere with the set course hours. Special leave can be considered if a student lands a gig that will benefit their career and will be discussed in advance with the heads of department.
WHAT HOURS DO I STUDY?
This depends on the course you are enrolled in. We study regularly in set hours from 9-4pm Monday to Friday and on Wednesday a late start of 12:45pm. If you are enrolled in SSP or TDP you will have a specialised timetable. Currently SSP attend Thursday and Friday instead of normal schooling.
CAN I DO MY NORMAL DANCE SCHOOL CLASSES?
We encourage you to stay with your own dance school during treatment. If your schedule allows we consider all training beneficial and this includes your part time performing school. Musical Theatre students should have a private singing tutor.
HOW DO I KNOW MY COURSE PROGRESS?
Our Faculty continually speak with the students to help them with their development and nurture their skills sets. Students receive written feedback from assessments and continuous class and verbal feedback with trainers, mentors and directors.
CAN I BUILD MY CV DURING THE COURSE?
Yes with our performances and corporate opportunities on stage, screen there is always opportunities for students to perform. Our opportunities such as : Fringe Festival, Crown LOTTO show, RAC Ball, Suited Events New Years Events, WA Disability Awards, The Mercedes Benz Launch, COP Nativity and Turning on the Xmas Lights, Giggle Ball, PRIDE Parade Promo and Launch, Channel Seven Celebration Commercial, Indiana Massara with Disney Radio, Telethon, VIP Winter Wonderland Ball and the Meraki School Festival.
IS APAN EASY TO GET TO?
Morley is a central location. It is situated on a main road 15 minutes from the train station and a bus stop directly outside the premises. In the vicinity of APAN ACADEMY HQ there are doctor's , physios, shops, lunch bars, gyms, delis and more. We have students travelling from all over the State to attend our school easily.
DOES THE COURSE HAVE CONTACT WITH AGENCIES?
We have interstate top agencies such as Jeep visit for one on one time with our students.
CAN I VISIT YOUR PERFORMANCES?
We encourage potential students to come to our annual showcase .

DO I NEED A UNIQUE STUDENT IDENTIFIER (USI)
Yes every student is required to have a USI.
ARE THERE A PRE-REQUISITE TO ENTER APAN ACADEMY?
We have an Audition process to follow. If there are specific pre-requisite (such as Cert IV in Musical Theatre) we will do an RPL assessment to ensure suitability.
